Physiotherapy
At The Treatment Room, we use our extensive experience to provide the highest level of physiotherapy to clients in Newport, Cardiff, Cwmbran, Caerleon and surrounding areas. We specialise in treating and rehabilitating musculoskeletal problems, affecting structures such as joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, and nerves. You can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in your life whether you are suffering with pain or sudden injury, managing long-term medical condition, having surgery or if your preparing for as sporting event. Many Injuries can also occur from simply putting the body under too much strain before it has developed the strength to tolerate it, for example trying to run too far too soon. An Assessment by one of our highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapists can also help with preventing injury by identifying underlying physical deficits. By addressing these, you can reduce your risk of injury in the future, particularly if you are about to take up a new sport or type of exercise.
So, if you have any pain or injury, whether from sitting at a desk too long or a sporting related injury, or even if you just want to improve your physical condition and performance, we are here to help you.
What Can Physiotherapy help with?
- Sports injuries
- Back and neck pain
- Rehabilitation following surgery or fractures
- Ligament and muscle tears and strains
- Tendon problems
- Arthritis and other joint conditions
- Work related pain
- Running injuries
- Cycling injuries
What to Expect?
On your first visit, you will be asked about your current problem and the impact on your life and activities. Your physiotherapist will want to know about previous injuries, your general medical heath, and your physical goals. They will then perform a physical examination to establish what anatomical structure/s are the source of your pain, and what underlying factors might be contributing to the problem, such as weakness or biomechanical issues. From here, your physio will discuss the findings and consider the treatment options with you to achieve your specific goals. The treatment plan is tailored to you. Follow-up sessions will continue the treatment process and any adjustments, based on how you present, can be made to the plan.
What Treatments are available ?
- Manual therapy: including joint mobilisations or manipulations and soft tissue techniques such as massage.
- Exercise rehabilitation: to strengthen, mobilise, and stretch specific areas.
- Movement analysis and correction: to improve alignment, movement patterns, reduce the load on sensitive tissues, and improve performance.
- Shockwave therapy: to assist in the rehabilitation of tendon problems.
- Acupuncture/needling: can be helpful in relieving pain and relaxing muscles.
- Education and advice: one of the most important and effective aspects of rehabilitation is to understand more about the problem and the best ways to facilitate and take part in your own recovery. You will be given a clear explanation of the diagnosis and any other underlying causes, and we will discuss what is required to address these issues and reach your goals.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound Scan these can be very useful in establishing and accurate diagnosis to muscle and tendon injuries
